A few library bags....

These library bags are my last sewing project for Christmas!  Two nieces, two nephews and two daughters!  I have lined them, added drawstring and stuffed them full of reading books (Mem Fox of course!), a colouring book, textas and a toy to play with!

I'm really happy with the results and hope the kids are keen to use them in the new school year!!

This will be my last post before Christmas, so wishing you all a happy Christmas filled with love, laughter and family!! xxx

Handmade Christmas Play!

Last Friday started at the Redcliffe hospital, where Caitlyn had her cast off!  We were in and out in 1/2 hour, very quickly!!!  Caitlyn loves having it off and is remembering something each day that she couldn't do with her cast on!  Even stuff like using two hands to scoop water when she brushes her teeth!

Then we headed off for Deb's.  I had to make gifts for Jack and Blayne.  For Blayne I made a sewing kit complete with small squares of fabric and a container of cotton, needles and a variety of sewing decs (forgot to photograph!).  Jack's present took a lot of thought and ended up being a notebook and pen set!

The kids had a ball playing outside, eating and getting a small pressie each.

The big kids liked their handmade gifts too!

I've also had my first experience of ebay!  Abbie wanted a wooden kitchen like at Debs and school care.  Of course, all shops had sold out, so I got onto ebay!  Sharryn helped me bid and I managed to buy a wooden Barbie kitchen, new in the box from ebay!!  The only prob is that it is all the way over past Beenleigh....oh well, the things we do for our kids!

Merry Christmas everybody!!!!

Holidays are here!

Happy holidays everybody!  I feel so relaxed and excited to be on hols and am looking forward to Christmas.  I have been super busy these last few weeks, so thought I'd share what I've been up to!

I decided to make presents for the girls teachers and a few special people at work.  I used some glass jars, a cuttlebug and a cute phrase "Good teachers deserve apples, great teachers deserve chocolate."

Caitlyn and Abbie had their OSCH Christmas concert.  Caitlyn got up on stage and sang a few numbers, Abbie prefered to be part of the audience!

I was very lucky this year, receiving lots of lovely gifts!  Bernadette gave me this beautiful Willow Tree friendship statue and card.  Just gorgeous!!!

Another huge event this week has been saying goodbye to Caboolture East!  I started there in 2001, so it was a bit of sad and a bit of excitment leaving.  I"ll miss the friendship of the staff, but know that I'll keep in touch with most people!

Now I'm on holidays, I'm looking forward to some more time to sew and create ready for next Friday!  Also, Caitlyn will have her cast off that day! Blog again soon!

A bit of good and a bit of bad luck....

Firstly I would like to share a little win I had recently.  I bought a ticket in Toni's cancer council raffle and was very excited to receive a text to say I'd won!  I was particularly excited because I had seen the beginnings of the bag and LOVED it!!!

So here it is, my new work bag which I just ADORE!!  Thanks Toni!!

So, on the other side of the coin is my not so good luck.... I had a phone call from Caitlyn's school today to say that she'd been hit by a soccer ball on the arm and the teacher with her had heard a crack!  So I raced back to the school, Sean was already there, so was the ambulance.  I went with her and Sean and Abbie followed to Redcliffe hospital.

After 3 hours, we were heading home.  Caitlyn has a buckle fracture of her wrist, a cast to her shoulder and a visit booked to a bone doctor Friday morning.  Hopefully there they will change the cast to a fibreglass one and it should be off in a few weeks.

She was in so much pain, but was very brave and is more than pleased with her cast.  We'll see how long that lasts!!!  I got a photo of her on my phone, but cannot seem to upload it, so I've got one of her tonight, asleep.   Not so lucky!

Hope everyone else has a less eventful week!!!

Weekend scrapping!

I have spent the weekend with a fantastic group of ladies who I treasure very much!  We shared stories, drank, ate, scrapped and sewed the weekend away.  Suzy's place is so lovely and Gavin was a fantastic cook.
I didn't really have much in mind for the weekend as I've been busy in the lead up, but managed to get a bit done.  I made some calendars for gifts.

Then I won an advent calendar, so began on that.  It is not finished but certainly well under way.
I had a great weekend and look forward to doing a fair bit more crafting leading up to Christmas.

Dentist drama....

Well, today was the day.  Abbie was booked into the dental van to have 2 teeth out.  They're back ones, only baby teeth, but they have a little absess each.  She has had 2 temporary, and unsuccessful, fillings in both,  so we are now having to have them out.  She has been on antibiotics all week to get rid of the absesses.

Anyways....get to the dentist and Abbie just cried.  I don't think I've ever seen her so scared.  After 30 minutes of gentle, then firm coaxing, we gave up.  The dental ladies were SO lovely.

So, I have now got an appointment with an Paediatric Orthodontist (I can hardly pronounce this!) this afternoon to have the teeth looked at.  Then they can put her under a general anaesthetic in the surgery to have both teeth removed.  OR, we could wait 8 to 10 months on a waitlist to have it done under public health.  I can't imagine making her wait any longer though, it must be so uncomfortable.

I cried a little.  I had great teeth as a kid and it kills me to think my poor little girl needs to have 2 removed under a general.  I think it's just the thought of her going to sleep.  It may happen next Thursday.  Have to wait and see what comes of today.

Oh well, that's my drama for the day, the week and this holiday!!  Hope everyone else is having a better break so far!!!

A big change.....

Well, it's official, I'll be teaching at Kallangur SS next year!  I missed out on the first round of transfers but by a stroke of luck, I have been posted.

Kallangur is only a short distance from my place!  I am really excited, nervous, scared and terrified that the new staff may not like me!!!  BUT, a change closer to home is what I need so here goes....

Hope you all have a wonderful holiday!!

Netball, last game and break up!

Hi all!  Well, we've had a fab weekend, but I am very tired!  Caitlyn and Abbie had their last games of netball and net-set-go yesterday.  Abbie was so excited to get her little medal.  Caitlyn's team won their last game and then they were also awarded their medals from PRNA.  Mum and Nanna came to watch too!!

Today, we headed off to a park at Bald Hills to have the club break up day.  Caitlyn and Abbie played a lot of games run by the teams and then Caitlyn got her trophy and photo.  It was such a nice day and the girls were very worn out this afternoon!

We have skating next weekend for the team break up, and that will officially be the end of the season!

I also met up with two fab ladies yesterday for coffee and a chat and found out that transfers come out on the 10th Sep!  I get so nervous thinking about it, hope the outcome is good!!!

Net set go and a day out!

Hi all!  Yep, I've been pretty slack with my blog lately, so thought I'd share a little of our goings on!  Firstly netball.  Abbie signed on for Net, Set, Go when Caitlyn started netball, but about 4 weeks in, she decided she didn't like it and only wanted to play a real game like Caitlyn (she was only doing skills).  So I let it go, and she has just been watching Caitlyn play for the last few games.  Anyways, to cut a long story short, she's attending again and I had to share this photo of her in a bib!  Much to her delight, they now actually play a short "game" each week!  She loves it, but there is only one week to go!  Oh well, at least she's finishing well!

In other breaking news, today we decided to head up to Redcliffe.  I've been keen to check out the markets since Deb and Toni had a stall there, but their weekends always seem to clash with our arrangements!!  So off we went.  The girls were so excited!

First we walked across the jetty!
Then went for a stroll through the markets and the kids had a jump on the jumping castle.  After we had a little splash on the seaside and the girls took delight in getting their toes and most of their shorts wet!!

We then drove to Scarborough Park where we had calamari and chips and the girls had a ball playing on the equipment and trying to climb trees!

Anyways, we're home now and I'm fairly tired!!  Will try to blog more regularly, but no promises as life just continues to be busy!!!

Busy busy....

So, life has been a little busy lately.   We've had netball carnivals, weekends away, sickness and a hospital visit (not related!).

I guess I'll start in Esk. Toni, Deb, Katrina, Tracey (hi!!), Tanya and myself went off for a lovely weekend in Esk! It was great and suprisingly warm due to a great fireplace! I got a fair bit of sewing done, thanks to Deb's wonderful tutorials!!

Also made Caitlyn a little pack for her birthday (notebook, texta container and card).  It is always lovely to get away!

This week I've been crook since Wednesday. :(  Think it's just the flu, but am still today coughing and sweating!!!  Yuk!  Hopefully I'll recover soon!

On top of my sickness, Thursday afternoon (after having the day off work) I decided I felt a little better so I'd try to use superglue to hold a draw together.  To cut a long story short, I got superglue in the corner of my left eye and a little around it.  Off to drs and hospital from 3pm to 6.30pm, all OK.  Should bead and come away on it's own accord.  No probs so far, so I guess that's good!

Anyway. I've got another busy week ahead with Caitlyn's birthday and party!  Can't believe she is going to be 9!!!  The time goes so fast!

Hope you are all healthier than me and just remember, superglue does NOT go in your eyes!!!!!!!!!!

Scrapping in my PJs!!

Hi all!  Well, unfortunately this is the last day of hols again!  I still find it unbelievable how quickly our holidays go, but I guess that's life!  I went to Blossies last night with Vicki and Janet to scrap in our PJs!  It was from 12 noon to 12 midnight, so I'm a little weiry this morning but very happy with what I did!!

I started on a tissue box holder and cards and finished on them as well.  I loved using my new Forever Friends block and hedgehog stickers!  Janet was using some Russian doll paper, and kindly gave me some too!  Thanks Janet!  Here they are....

Then I scrapped Abbie's excursion to the farm last year!  It's taken a while but I"m happy with the result.....

I also scrapped Caitlyn and Abbie's school fete from last year.  Lots of big photos, so made little album stuck to the front of the page....

Both have a few captions to be written in, but overall I was pretty happy with them!

Hope you all enjoy your last day of hols!

Eclipse was AWESOME!!!

Hi all!  Last night I set up with 7 other fabulous ladies who I am very lucky to call my friends to see Eclipse!  It was great!!  Still went to quickly though, which seems to be a common amongst those who read the book first, but I do think it's the best movie of the series so far!

Thanks to Vicki who gave me the most gorgeous set of candles for my dining room table!  Aren't they gorgeous?

Also thanks to Debbie who made me a gorgeous bag with matching mini zipper purse!  I LOVE the denim and red flower fabric!!  Can't wait to use it!

Finally, thanks to Toni who made me a gorgeous little bag to use in my brand new bag!

I am so lucky to have wonderful friends, and although we don't get to catch up all that often, it is always great when we do!  Thanks for a great night ladies!!!
